(Why piano first?)
Percussion includes all instruments you strike with a stick or mallet, and all beginning percussion students begin with simple drums.
DRUMS: There are actually dozens of types of drums, but to begin students start with "snare drum" for all the basic technique of stick striking. Once the student has mastered the "rudiments" the student proceeds to combinations of drums and other percussion instruments. The drumset includes one or two snares, a bass drum, several cymbals and any other percussive instruments that can be attached (cow bells, triangle, etc.)
