There are two groups of teachers who might be interested in these excellent theory and technique work books. Read the section that applies to you:

GROUP 1: All Piano Teachers Who Want to Improve Their Students' Basic Musical Skills:
These wonderful workbooks contain theory and technique that is often not covered by other sources, in a step-by-step drill approach that ensures adequate retention. The pentachord system that is taught in books A, B, C, 1, 2 and 3 is a wonderful pre-scale technique that also gets the student moving around the piano with comfort and ease. Weekly ear training exercises "ask the right questions at the right time" by having the student identify aurally the same musical concepts they are studying as technique. The sight reading, transposing and harmonization exercises do wonders to build students' general keyboard skills and ability to learn new music correctly. The theory exercises provide excellent review of theoretical material already learned. Use these books to improve your student's overall musicianship and watch them learn new pieces with greater facility, understanding, accuracy and musicality! Use these books to help your transfer students fill in the gaps in their theoretical knowledge or basic technique! Use these books to demonstrate your intermediate or advanced students' level of ability and ensure annual progress!

If you have students who need extra help with theory, technique or just every-day musical/piano skills, these books can be your answer and student saver! Scroll down to download free sample pages....

GROUP 2: Piano Teachers Who Participate in the (Pittsburgh) PPTA Piano Evaluations or the (Illinois) ISMTA AIM Programs:
The Piano Evaluation Preparation Workbook Series, is a systematic approach that prepares the student for the Annual Pittsburgh Piano Teachers Association (PPTA) Evaluations and the Illinois State Music Teachers Association (ISMTA) AIM Piano Evaluations, in the four important areas: sightreading, ear training, technique, and theory, through a 15-lesson course of step-by-step learning and practice exercises. The PPTA Piano Evaluations Curriculum is based on the Illinois State Music Teachers Association Piano Syllabus, so any teachers who utilize this syllabus will find these work books beneficial. Daily recitation and practice instructions are designed to ensure that the student retains the material mastered to date. (A family should help the student with these drills - and they are designed so that no musical knowledge is required). The technique requirements are introduced through weekly practice assignments, and the theory is reviewed through weekly written homework.

For easy reference, the complete Piano Evaluation Syllabus requirements for the level are given in the beginning of each book. Since many piano students start with pre-reading method systems, keyboard charts, letters and numbers are used throughout Level A, B and C so that the student can learn the technique while still not fully competent in reading.

Most importantly, these workbooks sequence the student through the required technique, theory, ear training and sightreading skills in a logical systematic order – so that the student or teacher is not forced to piece together the material from other books or generate her/his own materials. Further, since these workbooks are designed specifically for the Piano Evaluations, the teacher can be assured that no detail is overlooked, which can easily happen with other materials not coordinated in this way.

In the end, the small additional expense of purchasing this workbook is more than offset by the time saved and difficulties avoided as a result of using other materials for the preparation. As it is, the teacher most likely distributes photocopies of the applicable syllabus pages which in itself is an expense, and those pages are written so technically as to be only minimally understandable to the student as a preparation guide.

If you have never participated in the Piano Evaluations, these books can make your first-time experience far more pleasurable.
